Our First BBQ & Sunburn of the Season

Yesterday we had a BBQ with a bunch of Josh's classmates. Last week was a tough week for them. They were learning ground tactics. They were basically wrestling with each other for 10 hours a day. Add a yelling instructor and need for perfect form to a group of competitive athletes, and you get sore, tired, and bruised people! I think they all agree it was the worst part of the class so far, but if they ever find themselves in combat they will be glad to have the knowledge. Anyways after two very long days of contact, they were all ready for a relaxing Sunday afternoon. I was glad to have the opportunity to socialize with all of them. I was finally able to put a face to a name for most of them. As would be expected, we had all kinds of meat to grill! We had brats, burgers, kilbasa, seasoned chicken legs, bbq chicken breasts, and marinated deer. There was also macaroni salad, baked beans, a melon, potato chips, apple pie, a chocolate cake, and I made my mom's cookie salad! It took some convincing to get everyone to try it, but they were glad once they did :) Apparently it looks like potato salad gone wrong??? The other comparison it received was to banana pudding (not better than Dunlap's moms' though :) Everyone was tired from the long week, so we just hung out on the lawn for a few hours. When we got home, we realized we had received our first sunburn of the season! It was about 64 degrees at the hottest point with a little bit of a breeze. We could have sat there forever :)
